The Role

\n

We are recruiting for a Nursery Room Leader to lead a Kindergarten Room for children aged 3–5 years. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years professional who is confident leading a small team and taking responsibility for a group of children's learning and development.

\n

The room currently has 22–24 children, with responsibility for managing a team of 3 staff members (2 permanent staff and 1 lunchtime cover).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Kindergarten Room and support the day-to-day running of the provision.
  • \n
  • Deliver high-quality EYFS learning experiences.
  • \n
  • Plan and prepare activities and learning opportunities in advance.
  • \n
  • Take sole responsibility for a designated group of children and their educational progress.
  • \n
  • Complete regular observations, assessments and 6-week reviews.
  • \n
  • Conduct parent handovers and build positive relationships with families.
  • \n
  • Support, motivate and supervise room staff.
  • \n
  • Ensure a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment for all children.
  • \n

Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Level 3 Early Years qualification or above (essential).
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS framework.
  • \n
  • Previous experience leading a room or supervising staff within an Early Years setting.
  • \n
  • Confident managing parent relationships and children's learning journeys.
  • \n
  • Able to work independently and lead a small team effectively.
  • \n

Working Pattern

    \n
  • Typically 3 days: 8:00am – 6:00pm
  • \n
  • 1 half-day per week
  • \n
  • Optional overtime available on the remaining day and a half.
  • \n
  • Flexibility may be considered, including a 5-day shorter-hours pattern for candidates with childcare commitments.
  • \n

Additional Information

  • Most children have no additional needs; currently only two children have mild SEN requirements.
  • \n
  • The nursery is happy to consider candidates with notice periods and can accommodate start dates throughout the summer.
  • \n
\n
