As a SEN Teacher, you'll deliver adapted learning based lessons, working closely with support staff and external professionals to meet each student's unique needs.

Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • \n
  • Assess students' abilities and monitor progress, adapting strategies to support development
  • \n
  • Create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and set achievable learning targets
  • \n
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils
  • \n
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and safe classroom environment
  • \n
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including sensory and practical activities, to engage learners
  • \n
  • Communicate regularly with parents/carers about student progress and wellbeing
  • \n
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic learning
  • \n

Candidate Requirements:

\n

\n
    \n
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • \n
  • A relevant degree (e.g. Education, Psychology, or a subject specialism)
  • \n
  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of different learning difficulties (e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia)
  • \n
  • Knowledge of SEN legislation and frameworks (such as the SEND Code of Practice in the UK)
  • \n
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • \n
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • \n
  • Experience collaborating with parents, support staff, and external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists)
  • \n
