OverviewA growing organisation is looking for an experienced PHP Developer to join their internal technology team, supporting the development and enhancement of business-critical CRM applications.Working within a cross-functional Scrum team, this role will deliver new functionality, improve existing systems, and support the continued evolution of applications to meet changing business needs.This is an opportunity for a skilled PHP Developer to work in a collaborative Agile environment, delivering high-quality software solutions alongside developers, QA, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams.Roles & Responsibilities\n

• Develop and maintain backend systems using PHP (Laravel/CakePHP).
\n
• Deliver features end-to-end, including development, testing, and deployment.
\n
• Enhance existing applications, including legacy CakePHP systems.
\n
• Build and maintain APIs and backend services.
\n
• Write clean, maintainable code following development standards and best practices.
\n
• Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
\n
• Support system design, integrations, and technical improvements.
\n
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with wider technology teams.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and reduce technical debt.
\n

Skills & Experience\n

\n
• 3+ years’ commercial experience in PHP development.
\n
• Strong experience with PHP 7.4 (CakePHP) and PHP 8+ (Laravel/Symfony).
\n
• Experience building backend systems and APIs.
\n
• Strong knowledge of MySQL, including queries and performance optimisation.
\n
• Working knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
\n
• Experience with Git, branching workflows, and pull requests.
\n
• Familiarity with Docker and Linux/WSL environments.
\n
• Experience with unit testing and automated testing practices.
\n
• Understanding of software design principles and coding standards.
\n
• Exposure to Vue.js/Nuxt, Azure, CI/CD pipelines, messaging technologies, or microservices is beneficial.
