Hours: 17.5 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 12:00pm – 3:30pm

Start Date: September 2026

Daily Payrate: £95 - £105

About the Role\n

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Level 1 Teaching Assistant to join our team at a welcoming primary school in the Wirral. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to access learning and develop independence within the classroom.

This role requires a patient, nurturing individual who is confident in supporting children with additional needs and committed to inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Provide 1:1 tailored support for a pupil with ASD
  • \n
  • Use Makaton and a total communication approach to support understanding and expression
  • \n
  • Implement strategies to support pupils with:
  • \n
  • Autism (ASD)
  • \n
  • ADHD
  • \n
  • Global Developmental Delay
  • \n
  • Support sensory regulation, particularly for a sensory-seeking pupil
  • \n
  • Assist with intimate care needs in a respectful and dignified manner
  • \n
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised support plans
  • \n
  • Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
  • \n
Essential Requirements\n
    \n
  • Experience working with children with ASD and additional needs
  • \n
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Makaton
  • \n
  • Understanding of ADHD, sensory needs, and global developmental delay
  • \n
  • Experience providing intimate care
  • \n
  • Ability to use a total communication approach
  • \n
  • A clear, confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • \n
  • Calm, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting pupils
  • \n
Desirable\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in a primary school setting
  • \n
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 1 or equivalent)
  • \n
  • Experience supporting sensory regulation strategies
  • \n
