Roofing Estimator

Location: Eastbourne and East SussexJob Type: Full-time, PermanentSalary: £40K - £50K per annum

We are seeking an experienced Roofing Estimator to join our growing team.

We are an established construction company specialising in the restoration, refurbishment, and maintenance of heritage and historic buildings. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a knowledgeable estimator with experience in both pitched and flat roofing to support our expanding portfolio of projects.

You will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates and competitive tenders for a wide range of roofing projects, working closely with clients, suppliers, and our delivery teams to secure and successfully hand over projects.

• Prepare detailed estimates, quotations, and tender submissions for pitched and flat roofing projects.
\n
• Review drawings, specifications, schedules of work, and site survey information.
\n
• Carry out material take-offs and labour calculations.
\n
• Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
\n
• Attend site visits to assess project requirements where necessary.
\n
• Price heritage restoration, refurbishment, repair, and maintenance works.
\n
• Identify project risks, programme requirements, and value engineering opportunities.
\n
• Work closely with contracts managers to ensure a smooth transition from tender to project delivery.
\n

The successful candidate must have proven experience in all aspects of roofing estimating, with a thorough understanding of both pitched and flat roofing systems from enquiry through to tender submission.

You will also have:

\n
• Proven experience estimating both pitched and flat roofing projects.
\n
• Excellent knowledge of traditional and modern roofing systems, materials, and construction methods.
\n
• Experience pricing refurbishment, restoration, and maintenance projects, ideally within the heritage or conservation sector.
\n
• The ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
\n
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
\n
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
\n
• Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
\n
• A full UK driving licence is desirable.
\n

Experience working on listed buildings, conservation projects, churches, historic properties, or other heritage structures would be a distinct advantage.

Working Pattern:

• Full-time, permanent role
\n
• Office-based with regular site visits
\n
• Working hours: 07:30-17:00 (plus travel as required)
\n
