Day-to-day of the role:

    Strategic Land Planning & Policy Development:

    • Lead the development and implementation of the Land Strategy.
    • \n
    • Produce strategic plans for diverse land uses including recreation, farming, and commercial development.
    • \n
    • Ensure alignment with corporate priorities and regulatory requirements.

    Opportunity Identification & Strategic Analysis:

    • Identify and evaluate land opportunities across the estate.
    • \n
    • Use data to inform decision-making and develop strategic frameworks.
    • \n

    Programme Development & Business Case Creation:

      \n
    • Translate strategic ideas into structured programmes with clear financial models and delivery routes.
    • \n
    • Develop comprehensive business cases for investment in land-based programmes.
    • \n

    Governance & Cross-Business Collaboration:

      \n
    • Collaborate with various internal teams to establish governance pathways for land proposals.
    • \n
    • Represent the land strategy in internal committees and steering groups.
    • \n

    External Stakeholder Engagement & Influence:

      \n
    • Build relationships with key external stakeholders and represent the organisation in strategic discussions.
    • \n
    • Stay informed on external policy and market trends to identify opportunities and risks.

    Research, Insight & Evidence Development:

      \n
    • Lead research into markets and new land use approaches.
    • \n
    • Benchmark against leading organisations and produce strategic insights.
    • \n

    Strategic Risk Management:

    • Identify and mitigate long-term risks related to land use and regulatory compliance.

    Supporting Delivery & Organisational Change:

    • Ensure strategies are practical and supportable by local operations.
    • \n
    • Support culture change in land management practices.
    • \n

    Maximising Strategic Commercial Opportunities:

    • Lead the assessment of commercial opportunities on land, including renewable energy and digital infrastructure.
    • \n
    • Manage enquiries from developers strategically.
    • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong background in land strategy, rural estate management, or environmental planning.
  • \n
  • Proven experience in developing strategic land programmes and business cases.
  • \n
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret diverse data sets.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of land law, planning frameworks, and environmental regulation.
  • \n
