\nQuantum Scholars are looking for caring, reliable and experienced Secondary English and Maths Tutors to support secondary-aged children and young people in and around Bridgwater, Somerset.
\nThis is an in-person tuition role. Tuition will take place in the young person's home and/or a suitable community setting, depending on the individual referral. Please note that this is not online work, so applicants must be able to travel to Bridgwater and the surrounding areas.
\nWe work with pupils who may be educated other than at school, awaiting a suitable placement, or in need of additional personalised support. Tuition is usually delivered on a 1:1 basis and is tailored to the needs, ability and circumstances of each young person.
\nWe are particularly interested in tutors who can support English and/or Maths and who can provide a calm, flexible and young person-centred approach. The successful tutor will be able to build positive relationships, adapt learning to meet individual needs, and deliver engaging sessions that support confidence, progress and re-engagement with education.
\nThe role may involve:

Providing 1:1 in-person tuition for secondary-aged pupils in and around Bridgwater

Delivering English and/or Maths support tailored to the pupil's needs
\n - \n
Travelling to pupils' homes and/or suitable community settings
\n - \n
Planning and delivering personalised learning activities
\n - \n
Supporting core literacy, numeracy, subject knowledge and confidence
\n - \n
Helping pupils re-engage with education at a pace that is right for them
\n - \n
Adapting sessions to suit each young person's needs, ability and emotional readiness
\n - \n
Supporting pupils who may have SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, EBSA, or gaps in education
\n - \n
Working professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
\n - \n
Keeping brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress
\n
Essential requirements:

Experience working with secondary-aged pupils
\n - \n
Strong subject knowledge in English and/or Maths
\n - \n
A patient, encouraging and flexible approach
\n - \n
The ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
\n - \n
Strong communication and organisational skills
\n - \n
A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for young people
\n - \n
The ability to travel to in-person tuition sessions in and around Bridgwater
\n - \n
The legal right to work in the UK
\n
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants who do not meet this requirement.
\nPlease also note that this is not an online tutoring role. Applicants must be available for in-person tuition in Bridgwater and the surrounding areas.
\nQualified Teacher Status would be highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher. We would also welcome applications from experienced tutors, instructors or education professionals with strong English and/or Maths subject knowledge and relevant experience.
\nApplicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate and be able to provide suitable references.
