Mobile Plant Fitter

We are working on behalf of a leading national plant hire company who are currently recruiting for a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of mobile plant and heavy equipment across multiple sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. Key Responsibilities * Service, inspect, and maintain mobile plant equipment * Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults * Attend on-site breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime * Work on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and forklifts * Complete job cards, reports, and maintenance records accurately * Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations * Carry out pre-start checks and routine inspections * Liaise with site teams regarding repairs and equipment status Requirements * Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or similar role * Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems * Experience with heavy mobile equipment (construction, quarrying, or industrial sectors) * NVQ in Land Based Engineering or Plant Maintenance (or equivalent qualification) * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills * Valid driver’s licence * Willingness to travel and work on-site Key Attributes * Independent and self-motivated * Strong attention to detail * Able to work under pressure * Safety-conscious with good communication skills Working Conditions * Field-based role across multiple sites * Overtime may be required, including call-outs and weekend work * Overtime is paid at 1.5x flat rate after 52.5 hours worked per week * Outdoor and industrial working environments
