Join an established and growing professional services firm as the Head of Finance. This pivotal leadership role involves driving business performance, ensuring financial governance, and contributing to strategic decision-making. Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you will lead the finance function, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and regulatory compliance.
\nDay-to-day of the role:
\n- \n
- Lead and develop the finance function, maintaining the highest standards of financial control, compliance, and reporting. \n
- Manage the entire financial reporting cycle including monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts, and external audits. \n
- Produce detailed financial analysis, forecasts, budgets, cash flow projections, and performance reports for strategic planning. \n
- Oversee all banking, cash management, reconciliations, supplier payments, payroll submissions, and transactional finance activities. \n
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax legislation, regulatory requirements, and specific industry rules. \n
- Provide financial insights to support profitability, performance management, and business decision-making. \n
- Maintain and optimise financial systems, controls, processes, and reporting frameworks. \n
- Lead audit activities and ensure effective governance, risk management, and internal controls across the firm. \n
- Drive continuous improvement within finance operations and enhance efficiency through technology and process optimisation. \n
Required Skills & Qualifications:
\n- \n
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification. \n
- Proven experience leading a finance function within a professional services environment, ideally legal services. \n
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, audit, and financial controls. \n
- Experience producing management information and presenting financial results at Board, Partner, or Executive level. \n
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable business insights. \n
- Strong people leadership skills and experience managing and developing finance teams. \n
- Advanced systems knowledge with a track record of improving finance processes and controls. \n
Desirable:
\n- \n
- Experience within a law firm or regulated legal environment. \n
- Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and partnership accounting. \n
- Experience with legal practice management and accounting systems. \n
