\nAbout the Role
\nAs a Security and Pastoral Officer for RNN Group (Further Education and Training Provider in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire) you will work within an educational environment, responsible for ensuring the safety and security of learners, staff and visitors within the campus.
\nYou will help maintain a secure and conducive atmosphere to promote learning by monitoring college buildings/grounds, enforcing regulations, and responding to emergencies.
\nYour duties will involve engaging with learners, patrolling premises/grounds, monitoring CCTV, managing access points, and providing a visible presence to deter and respond to potential security threats/issues.
\nThe RNN Group actively promotes a pastoral approach to encourage its learners within the college environment. As Security and Pastoral Officer, you will support staff in managing student behaviour by promoting positive conduct, de-escalating conflicts, and assisting in the supervision of vulnerable learners in communal areas, including moving of learners from campus spaces into classrooms.
\nUltimately, you will ensure that the Group’s buildings are a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors within the campus.
\nYou will…
\nYou will have relevant experience in a security guarding environment involving dealing with public in the retail or public sector. You will have experience in the use of large intruder and fire alarm systems and CCTV monitoring and be able to evidence experience carrying our first aid.
\nYou will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths (or be willing to undertake). You should have a SIA licence (or equivalent) and a certificate in first aid at work (dated within the last 3 years) including relevant health & safety training.

\nThe role of Security and Pastoral Officer is shift based and hours of work will be in line with college needs in order to provide an effective uniformed presence during all operational hours.
\nThe role will require being physically active for extended periods and you will have the capability to respond quickly to emergencies, which may involve running or climbing stairs when required.
\nYou will work as part of the Estates and Facilities department, liaising with colleagues from within the department and across the campus. You will report to the Security Manager.
