Job Description
Estimator - Water & Civil Engineering Location: Manchester Salary: Up to £85,000 per annum + package Employment Type: Permanent Hours: Full Time - 40 hours per week Are you an experienced Estimator with a background in water, utilities or heavy civil engineering projects? This is an opportunity to join a well-established infrastructure business delivering major civil engineering projects across the UK water sector. Working within an experienced bid and pre-construction team, you'll play a key role in securing new work across a diverse portfolio of projects including pipelines, tunnelling, shafts, MEICA, rail civils and groundworks. The Role As an Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for complex infrastructure projects. Working closely with bid managers, planners, procurement teams and operational stakeholders, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of tender submissions and framework opportunities. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions. Review and interpret PQQ and ITT documentation. Complete quantity take-offs and review Bills of Quantities. Develop risk, opportunity and key assumptions registers. Work closely with planning, operational and commercial teams to develop delivery methodologies. Prepare and present estimate adjudication packs. Support tender clarifications and customer negotiations. Liaise with procurement throughout the estimating process. Provide detailed handovers to delivery teams following contract award. Requirements Experience using Candy estimating software. Previous estimating or operational experience within civil engineering infrastructure projects. Experience in one or more of the following sectors: Water infrastructure Pipelines Tunnelling Shafts MEICA Rail Civils Groundworks Strong understanding of construction methodologies and resource requirements. Experience preparing tender build-ups and detailed estimates. Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong organisational and commercial awareness.
