Job Title: Workshop Diagnostic & Repair Engineer

Location: Aylesbury

Contract Details: Full time, permanent

\n

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (1 hour lunch break)

\n

Salary: £32,000 - £34,000 per annum

Responsibilities:

\n

Workshop & Repair Management:

\n
    \n
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and coordinate the repair of hardware and software faults on advanced laboratory equipment
  • \n
  • Manage workshop-based investigations and repairs of equipment returned from customer sites.
  • \n
  • Use diagnostic software and technical processes to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • \n
  • Provide technical support to customers via phone, email and remote support tools.
  • \n
  • Work closely with colleagues and technical teams to resolve complex issues.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation and customer support cases within the CRM system.
  • \n
  • Support field-based engineers throughout the UK when required.
  • \n
  • Occasionally accompany Field Service Engineers to customer sites across locations such as Oxford, Cambridge and London
  • \n
\n

Internal IT Support:

\n
    \n
  • Provide IT support to office and field-based staff
  • \n
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day issues (Windows 11, password resets, user access, etc.)
  • \n
  • Support Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and general IT systems
  • \n
  • Assist with on-boarding/off-boarding, equipment setup, and IT asset tracking
  • \n
  • Liaise with central IT teams for escalations
  • \n
\n

Essential Skills & Experience:

\n
    \n
  • Scientific background with experience working within a laboratory, life sciences, biotechnology or technical instrumentation environment
  • \n
  • Proven experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing hardware and software faults
  • \n
\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in an IT Support role is essential
  • \n
  • Science degree or medical background advantageous
  • \n
\n
    \n
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • \n
  • Knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory
  • \n
  • A practical, detail-focused and people-oriented approach
  • \n
  • Full UK driving licence
  • \n
\n
