Location: SE11 Salary: £25,000 per annum Contract: Permanent Full timeStart Date: September 26

About the Role\n

A SEND school in SE5 are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Mentor (SEND) to their team. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing tailored support to help them overcome barriers to learning, achieve their potential, and develop confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring for students with SEND.
  • \n
  • Support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • \n
  • Assist in the implementation of individual learning plans and interventions.
  • \n
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • \n
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • \n
  • Promote inclusion and ensure students can fully participate in school activities.
  • \n
  • Support students in developing resilience, self-esteem, and positive learning behaviours.
  • \n
What We're Looking For\n

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • \n
  • A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach.
  • \n
  • Ability to build positive relationships and inspire confidence.
  • \n
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • \n
  • Relevant qualifications in education, mentoring, youth work, or SEND support are desirable.
  • \n
