About the role:

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Functional Skills Maths Tutor to join our education team within a prison setting, working with young offenders. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by supporting learners to develop essential numeracy skills that will help them transition successfully back into education, training, or employment.

• Deliver high-quality Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2) lessons
\n
• Plan and adapt schemes of work to meet individual learner needs
\n
• Create a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
\n
• Support learners to achieve recognised qualifications
\n
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback
\n
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively within a secure environment
\n
• Work collaboratively with prison staff and education colleagues
\n
• Maintain accurate records in line with compliance requirements
\n

What we need from you:

\n
• Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths (essential)
\n
• A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or equivalent)
\n
• Passion for supporting young people with challenging backgrounds
\n
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
\n
• Ability to engage and motivate disengaged learners
\n
• Understanding of safeguarding and equality in education
\n
