Heavy Plant & Telehandler OperatorLocation: Corby, NorthamptonshireSalary: £14.00 – £15.00 per hour (Dependent on Experience)Contract Type: Full-Time, OngoingAbout the RolePertemps is recruiting a skilled and versatile Heavy Plant & Telehandler Operator to join our established waste management client, Bailey’s Skip Hire, at their active recycling facility in Corby.In this role, you will play a key part in daily yard operations. While the site utilises 3.5T Telehandler trucks for moving materials, you will also be regularly operating heavy machinery—specifically a 360-grab excavator and a Loading Shovel—to sort, load, and manage incoming waste.Working Hours & Shift PatternsThis position offers excellent earning potential with generous weekly hours.Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PMSaturdays: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PMSaturday frequency is negotiable (e.g., every Saturday or every other Saturday).Key ResponsibilitiesWaste Handling: Safely operate a 360-grab to sort, stockpile, and feed various waste streams into processing equipment.Yard Loading: Operate the Loading Shovel to move bulk materials and load bulkers or skips.Telehandler Operation: Utilise the on-site 3.5T Telehandler trucks for transporting sorted materials and organising the yard safely.Maintenance & Checks: Complete daily pre-start safety inspections and routine maintenance (greasing, fluid top-ups) on all operated machinery.Health & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to site health and safety rules within a busy, high-volume waste environment.Experience & Requirements (Essential)Industry Experience: Proven track record working within the waste management or recycling industry.Machinery Competency: Hands-on experience driving/operating a 360 Excavator, Loading Shovel, or JCB.Licenses/Tickets: Relevant and valid plant cards (e.g., CPCS, NPORS) for 360 Excavator, Wheeled Loader, or Telehandler are highly advantageous.Reliability: A strong work ethic and the physical stamina required to handle a 12-hour weekday shift pattern.What’s on Offer?Competitive Pay: £14.00 – £15.00 per hour DOE.Stable Hours: High earning potential with consistent weekly hours and overtime.Flexibility: Negotiable Saturday shift patterns to support your work-life balance.Support: Direct representation and weekly pay through Pertemps.
