Systems Engineer

We are supporting a leading independent provider of project engineering based in Redhill who are looking to add a Systems Engineer to their growing team. This is a full-time permanent position.

Key responsibilities for our Systems Engineer will include:

\n
• Acting as in-house Product expert on selected systems and application
\n
• Providing accurate and timely technical information on a variety of engineering investigations
\n
• Supporting design, requirement capture and development of the suite of company value added services
\n
• Producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation relating to the new solutions/developments
\n
• Working with Product Management team on effective roll-outs
\n
• Owning, investigating and resolving escalated engineering service issues.
\n
• Leading by example to develop and maintain personal technical expertise in company bespoke products and security best practise
\n

The Successful Systems Engineer candidate will have:

\n
• Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT/Programming/Engineering related area AND/OR at least 3 years equivalent experience
\n
• A professional and flexible approach
\n
• Proactive can-do attitude
\n
• Analytical mindset
\n
• Ability to diagnose complex faults, document, communicate and follow up corrective actions
\n
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts including Routing, Switching, Firewalling, including Layer 7 firewalls Linux (CentOS/Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL)
\n

Desirable:

\n
• Project planning and delivery experience
\n
• Asterisk/VoIP platforms
\n
• Windows Server and VMware intermediate level experience
\n
• Hardware and/or software systems development and design experience
\n
• Programming knowledge – Scripting (Bash, Perl)
\n
• Working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls and traffic shaping experience
\n
