  • As the Lead Oracle Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be joining an established infrastructure team where you'll play a key role in supporting, enhancing and optimising mission-critical Oracle platforms.
  • \n
  • A key focus of the role is bringing deep OCI expertise into the team, helping to strengthen capability, support knowledge transfer and provide technical leadership across cloud and database services.
  • \n
  • Alongside project delivery, you'll be expected to contribute to operational support activities, ensuring highly available services continue to perform effectively while enabling wider teams to focus on strategic initiatives.

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the delivery, support and continuous improvement of infrastructure services and solutions.
  • \n
  • Providing technical leadership and specialist guidance to senior engineering teams.
  • \n
  • Supporting the design, implementation and optimisation of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services.
  • \n
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex issues and major service incidents.
  • \n
  • Deliver enhancements across Oracle database and cloud platforms.
  • \n
  • Support infrastructure strategy, technical roadmaps and service improvement initiatives.
  • \n
  • Work closely with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure services meet operational and technical requirements.
  • \n
  • Contribute to risk management activities and implementation of mitigation plans.
  • \n
  • Support the adoption of automation, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps best practices.
  • \n
  • Mentor colleagues and help develop internal OCI and Oracle expertise.
  • \n
  • The role will be hybrid, with any on-site requirements being at the Blackpool or Newcastle offices.

Profile

\n

As the successful candidate for the Lead Oracle Infrastructure Engineer role, you should have the following experience:

\n

\n
    \n
  • Proven recent experience (within the last 5 years) working with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Exadata, supporting large-scale enterprise environments.
  • \n
  • Strong Oracle Database Administration expertise across Oracle RDBMS 11.2-23ai, including RAC, Data Guard, RMAN Backup & Recovery, OEM and OCI Database Management.
  • \n
  • Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical database platforms, including patching, upgrades, performance optimisation and resilience planning.
  • \n
  • Deep understanding of Oracle technologies including ASM, AFD, HANFS, TAF, with knowledge of Multitenant, TDE and TLS being advantageous.
  • \n
  • Proven experience with database migration and replication tools, including Data Pump, GoldenGate and ZDM.
  • \n
  • Strong cloud infrastructure, security and networking knowledge across OCI and AWS, including network segregation, encryption and secure authentication practices.
  • \n
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and Ansible), including automation, troubleshooting and deployment support.
  • \n
  • Strong Linux and/or AIX administration experience, combined with expertise in OIDC authentication, migration testing and operational support within complex enterprise environments.
