Financial Controller

Financial Controller - 5 Month Contract - £400 – £500 per day (Outside IR35) – Wantage, Oxfordshire, (Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office)

FryerMiles is delighted to be supporting a growing, private equity-backed organisation who is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support the senior finance leadership team during an exciting period of growth, business transformation and acquisition activity.

This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded finance professional who can quickly add value across financial reporting, financial controls, process improvement and team support. You'll play a key role in ensuring the finance function continues to operate efficiently while supporting strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly management accounts process across multiple legal entities.

• Manage and deliver an accurate and timely month-end close.
\n
• Produce high-quality management reporting, including budget variance analysis and financial insights.
\n
• Monitor cash flow and identify opportunities to improve working capital, including debtors, creditors and inventory.
\n
• Support year-end audit activities and act as a key contact for external auditors.
\n
• Assist with financial due diligence and finance support for acquisitions.
\n
• Help optimise finance systems and processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and controls.
\n
• Strengthen financial controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
\n
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
\n
• Provide guidance and support to members of the finance team.
\n
• Work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to provide financial insight and commercial support.

Essential

\n
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
\n
• Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar leadership role.
\n
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
\n
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
\n
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
\n
• Comfortable working at both a strategic and operational level.
\n
• Experience operating within fast-paced and changing environments.
\n
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
\n

Desirable

\n
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems.
\n
• Experience supporting ERP implementations or finance system migrations.
\n
• Previous experience within a private equity-backed business.
\n
• Exposure to acquisitions, integrations or financial due diligence.
\n
