The organisation operates to a hybrid working model. The purpose of the role is to lead and deliver high-quality, consistent, and defensible job evaluation outcomes across the Council using the online Gauge Job Evaluation System, ensuring compliance with equal pay legislation and best practice.The postholder will operate with a high degree of professional autonomy, evaluating roles up to manager level on the NJC pay grade, advising senior managers and trade unions, and chairing Job Evaluation Quality Assurance Panels. The role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of the Council’s grading structure and supporting wider organisational change and workforce transformation.In this role you will:\n

- Lead the delivery of high-quality, consistent, and defensible job evaluation outcomes across the Council. \n
- Act as the primary expert in the NJC Job Evaluation Scheme, ensuring full compliance with Equal Pay legislation and the Equality Act 2010. \n
- Operate with high professional autonomy, making decisions that directly impact pay, grading, and organisational risk. \n
- Maintain the integrity of the Council’s grading structure during periods of workforce transformation and change. \n
- Undertake robust evaluations for new and changed posts, including senior management roles. \n
- Input and retrieve data from the Gauge online system, ensuring data integrity and technical accuracy. \n
- Plan, chair, and acting as the professional lead to ensure fairness and transparency and that all evaluations follow agreed procedures. \n
- Provide specialist advice to senior managers, HR, and Trade Union representatives on JE principles and outcomes. \n

- Experience using the GAUGE computerised job evaluation system. \n
- Experience of dealing and negotiating with Trade Unions. \n
- An understanding of the legislative framework and governance arrangements applicable to Local Government. \n
- Deep understanding of equal pay case law and local government reward frameworks. \n
