Attendance Officer - Secondary School Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Position: Attendance Officer Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Start Date: September 2026 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Attendance Officer Required for Secondary School in Wakefield - September 2026 Start Prospero Teaching are working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Wakefield who are seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join their pastoral team on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who is passionate about improving student outcomes through excellent attendance and safeguarding practices. The successful candidate will work closely with KS3 and KS4 students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote high levels of attendance and punctuality across the school. The Role As an Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in monitoring and improving student attendance by: Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality records. Contacting parents/carers regarding student absences. Identifying attendance concerns and implementing appropriate interventions. Maintaining accurate attendance data and producing reports. Working collaboratively with pastoral staff, safeguarding teams, and senior leaders. Supporting students and families to overcome barriers to attendance. Arranging meetings with parents/carers and external professionals where required. Ensuring compliance with school attendance policies and statutory guidance. The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: Have previous experience working in an attendance, pastoral, education, or administrative role. Possess excellent organisational and communication skills. Be confident using school management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Have experience working with young people or within an educational setting. Demonstrate a professional, empathetic, and solution-focused approach. Understand the importance of safeguarding and student welfare. Essential Requirements Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). Right to work in the UK.
