Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 26-bed nursing unit that provides treatment to patients suffering from various medical problems, such as sepsis, altered mental status, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), stroke, and post-cardiac arrest hypothermia, as well as monitors patients requiring suicide and overdose monitoring. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional support, from initial introduction to final send-off. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare information as needed.

This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12-hour shifts per weekend and one 12-hour shift during the week. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full-time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of any errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.

A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. -- 7:30 a.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    Provide direct nursing care.

  • \n
  • \n

    Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

  • \n
  • \n

    Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.

  • \n
  • \n

    Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • \n
  • \n

    Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • \n
  • \n

    Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

  • \n
  • \n

    Educate patients and their families.

  • \n
\n

\n

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

\n
    \n
  • \n

    Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing

  • \n
  • \n

    Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • \n
  • \n

    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • \n
  • \n

    *If in a Critical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire

  • \n
  • \n

    One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

  • \n
\n

\n

    Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • \n

    Recent nursing graduate with an ICU practicum

  • \n
  • \n

    Nurse Assistant Extern (NAE)

  • \n
  • \n

    Inpatient clinical experience

  • \n

Physical Requirements:

    Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

    Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • \n
  • \n

    Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • \n

    Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • \n
  • \n

    Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • \n

    Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Pay Range

\n

\n

Minimum hourly: $35.50

\n

\n

Maximum hourly: $55.60

\n
