Psychiatrist – General Adult + Faculty

Hagerstown, MD

$350,000 Salary + $50,000 Sign-On Bonus + Up to $50,000 Relocation

Clinical Practice

\n

This role provides a varied psychiatry practice across multiple care settings:

Inpatient & Acute Services

\n
    \n
  • 12-bed Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit (voluntary & involuntary)
  • \n
  • 6-bed Crisis Stabilization Unit for substance use withdrawal and stabilization
  • \n
  • Consult-Liaison Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine consults
  • \n
  • Psychiatric ED consult service with dedicated behavioral health social workers
  • \n
\n

Outpatient Services

\n
    \n
  • Behavioral Health Urgent Care
  • \n
  • Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP)
  • \n
  • Therapy services with 10 FTE licensed mental health clinicians
  • \n
  • Telehealth psychiatry
  • \n
\n

Patient Population

\n

Treat adults with a full spectrum of psychiatric conditions, including:

\n
    \n
  • Major Depressive Disorder
  • \n
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • \n
  • Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders
  • \n
  • Anxiety disorders
  • \n
  • Substance Use Disorders
  • \n
  • Functional Neurologic Disorders
  • \n
\n

Care commonly involves management of suicidal ideation, psychosis, mania, substance withdrawal, capacity evaluations, and medication/psychotherapy management.

\n

Typical Clinical Volume

\n
    \n
  • Inpatient: 6–12 patients daily
  • \n
  • Consult-Liaison: 4–6 patients daily
  • \n
  • Addiction consults: 3–4 patients daily
  • \n
  • Crisis Stabilization Unit: ~3 patients daily
  • \n
  • Outpatient: 1-hour new visits, 15–30 minute follow-ups
  • \n
\n

Academic & Faculty Role

\n

Join a growing academic psychiatry department with:

  • 8 psychiatrists and 2 nurse practitioners
  • \n
  • 5 psychiatry residents per class
  • \n
  • Clinical supervision of residents and medical students
  • \n
  • Opportunities for didactics, lectures, advising, research, and committee participation

Faculty receive protected educational time (0.1 FTE) for teaching responsibilities.

Schedule & Call

  • Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM
  • \n
  • At-home weekday call (at most once per week)
  • \n
  • Weekend call rotation ~every 6 weeks
  • \n
  • Resident call coverage expanding beginning Summer 2026
  • \n
\n

  • 24/7 Emergency Psychiatric Services team covering the ED

  • Case management and social work support across inpatient and consult services

  • Dedicated outpatient psychotherapy staff
