PCU/Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) | Corning, New York
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Seeking a skilled RN with experience in Stepdown and Telemetry nursing for a contract assignment. This dynamic position involves caring for patients in a stepdown setting, where the ability to respond effectively to patient needs and collaborate as part of a care-focused team is essential. Candidates will work primarily night shifts, providing expert clinical care while maintaining open communication with staff and patients.
Schedule:
- 3 x 12-hour shifts, Nights
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Recent experience in Stepdown or Telemetry units
- ACLS certification required
- Proficient in patient assessment, medication administration, and creation of care plans
- Comfortable with physical aspects of bedside care, including pushing, pulling, and lifting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor patients in a stepdown environment, supporting stability and recovery
- Safely administer medications and carry out physician orders
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Work efficiently with a patient ratio of 3:1 (stepdown) and adjust to 5:1 (day shift) and 6:1 (night shift) as needed
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain detailed documentation and communicate key changes in patient status
