3rd Shift Fleet Mechanic

Adecco is currently assisting a large company in the Cicero / North Syracuse, NY area with recruiting for a 3rd Shift Fleet Mechanic. This is a direct-hire opportunity paying $24 to 30/hour DOE plus shift differential supporting a busy transportation operation.

You will perform preventive maintenance, basic diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, trailers, dollies, and related fleet equipment. This position is best suited for a mechanically inclined technician with diesel experience who can identify developing equipment issues and complete routine repairs with limited assistance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance services on tractors, trailers, dollies, and fleet equipment.
• Assist with diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related components.
• Inspect equipment and identify developing mechanical problems or potential failures.
• Perform basic repairs on 12-volt electrical systems.
• Complete routine mechanical repairs and maintenance documentation.
• Use computerized systems to enter service information and review maintenance records.
• Perform basic welding tasks as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of diesel engines and associated components.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance on commercial vehicles or fleet equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose and repair basic equipment issues.
• Familiarity with tractor, trailer, and dolly components.
• Basic knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic welding knowledge or experience preferred.
• Air-conditioning certification and New York State Inspection certification are a plus.
• Must provide personal tools appropriate for the work being performed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.

Schedule

• Third shift; start and end times may vary based on operational needs.
• Candidates must be available to work flexible overnight hours between approximately 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

Compensation and Benefits

• Starting pay is $24.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus a shift differential.
