Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) will autonomously deliver direct nursing care to patients and their families, adhering to established protocols, policies, and practices.
Location: Mother Infant Unit - Main Campus
Hours: Part-time, 24 hours
Shift: Night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Career Pathway LevelsThe Community RN Career Direct Care Pathway consists of four tiers based on the RN's experience, education, and qualifications:
- Level I: Less than 12 months of RN experience.
- Level II: 12 months to less than 3 years of RN experience.
- Level III: 3 years to less than 8 years of RN experience.
- Level IV: 8 years or more of RN experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid RN licensure in Massachusetts.
- 12 months to less than 3 years of RN experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Department-specific certifications may be required based on the type of patient care provided.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN licensure in Massachusetts in good standing.
- BSN is highly preferred.
- Candidates with an Associate’s degree in nursing may be considered, with encouragement to enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in telemetry or intermediate care settings is preferred.
- BLS certification is mandatory.
- ACLS certification is preferred.
- Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and repositioning of patients.
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Exposure to infectious diseases and potential carcinogenic substances.
- Risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
- Fine manual dexterity is required for patient handling.
- Visual and auditory acuity is necessary for monitoring patient care.
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, and the healthcare team.
- Understanding and application of the nursing process.
