Job Description

Our organization, the largest healthcare system in the state, is on the lookout for a Board Certified/Eligible Geriatrician to deliver inpatient consultative services to elderly patients at our medical center located in Portland, Maine.

Become part of a close-knit, collaborative inpatient team consisting of three seasoned physicians and two Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) dedicated to offering Age-Friendly 4Ms care to older adults at Maine's premier Level 1 trauma facility. Although this role primarily focuses on inpatient care, the Division of Geriatrics at our medical center comprises 16 physicians and 18 APPs who cater to older adults across various settings, including inpatient, facility-based, and outpatient primary care. This committed team emphasizes quality improvement, system enhancements, and seamless transitions of care.

In this position, you will conduct inpatient Geriatric consultations five days a week, concentrating on intricate care coordination and effective medical management for hospitalized older adults. You will have the chance to mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, with opportunities for bedside teaching as well as formal educational sessions. As a consultant, you will also collaborate with various specialties and disciplines to foster Age-Friendly Care throughout the healthcare system. This includes involvement in the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP), which has been a fixture at our medical center for over two decades and has maintained its Site of Excellence status for more than ten years. Please note that this role does not require participation in overnight on-call duties.

Our organization operates as a not-for-profit integrated health system with a vision of "Working together so our communities are the healthiest in America." We encompass nine local health systems, a comprehensive behavioral health network, diagnostic services, home health agencies, and a workforce of 1,700 employed clinicians collaborating through our medical group. With around 22,000 care team members, we provide preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment to approximately 1.1 million residents in Maine and New Hampshire. We offer a Total Rewards package that features extensive and competitive benefits, along with programs and resources tailored to meet the diverse needs of our workforce.

Located along the picturesque Maine coast, Portland blends urban sophistication with a welcoming small-town atmosphere. The region offers year-round recreational activities, including skiing, hiking, sailing, and miles of stunning beaches. Just two hours north of Boston, this area boasts a vibrant and diverse community.

Total compensation packages may include, depending on eligibility, recruitment bonuses, relocation assistance, productivity incentives, and quality bonuses.

The annual base salary for this role is set at $250,000.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to submit a cover letter and CV to express their interest in this opportunity.
