Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) | Smithville, Missouri

Bachelor’s in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or related field, National certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent), and 1–2+ years recent hospital lab experience. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A leading healthcare facility is seeking a dependable and skilled laboratory professional to support diagnostic operations and ensure accurate results are delivered with the highest standards of quality and safety. This is a contract position well-suited for candidates experienced in both Medical Technologist and Medical Lab Technician roles.

Schedule:

• 5x8 hour shifts
• Day shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) program
• Current certification (ASCP or equivalent) preferred
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting
• Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality assurance
• Strong attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory tests and procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients
• Process specimens, ensure correct labeling, and maintain accurate records
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
• Perform quality control and troubleshoot testing anomalies as required
• Adhere to all relevant safety, infection control, and hazardous material protocols
• Communicate effectively with coworkers, clinicians, and other healthcare staff
• Participate in continuing education and updates as needed for compliance and best practices
