Job Opportunity: Medical Director for Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery

We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking Medical Director to oversee our Cardiac, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery (CVT) program within a dynamic hospital-based physician group located in Arlington, VA. This position merges clinical practice with leadership duties, focusing on the quality, expansion, and integration of the CVT service line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and nurture the Cardiovascular and Thoracic (CVT) team and service line by ensuring optimal provider coverage, encouraging professional growth, and implementing initiatives that boost clinical productivity and performance.
  • Enhance the visibility and outreach of the Cardiovascular Surgery Program through community education, outreach efforts, and the establishment of a regionally integrated Cardiac Care network.
  • Guarantee clinical excellence in quality and patient safety by managing policy and procedure updates, coordinating care, conducting regular performance evaluations, and identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Support the financial sustainability of the CVT program by advocating for cost-effective practices that benefit patients, staff, and the wider health system across the office, CVICU, and CV Stepdown Unit.
  • Work collaboratively with administrative and business development teams to facilitate the strategic growth of cardiovascular services, including new facilities and service lines that align with our organization's mission and long-term vision.
  • Engage in strategic planning and physician recruitment efforts.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO; Board Certified in Cardiothoracic or Vascular Surgery.
  • Eligibility for licensure in Virginia.
  • Preferred 5+ years of post-training experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership in clinical or programmatic roles.
  • Experience with EPIC is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is between $250,000.00 - $552,240.00 annually. In addition to the base salary, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage (subject to eligibility), along with wellness and retirement benefits designed to support our employees and their families.

The stated compensation range is a good-faith estimate of the minimum and maximum salary for this position. Actual compensation will be based on specialty, as well as the candidate's education, training, skills, experience, certifications, and other relevant qualifications. This range may be adjusted in the future based on business needs or market changes. Compensation is not considered earned until vested and determined according to applicable policies and benefit plans. The availability and amount of bonuses, incentives, or other benefits are subject to the terms of those plans and may be modified at the organization's discretion, in compliance with applicable law.
