\nQualifications:\n
Responsible for the overall operation of the Life Support department including staffing, water chemistry, facility operation, facility maintenance, upgrades, project management, and adherence to governmental and safety policies.
\n\nResponsibilities:\n

- Responsible for the overall safe and efficient operation of the Life Support department. \n
- Operate and maintain all related equipment and chemical processes. \n
- Interview, coach and discipline Associates as needed with the Facility Maintenance Manager. \n
- Assist in preparation of annual budget under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and the Facility Maintenance Manager. \n
- Oversee the purchasing of new materials and supplies for the department. \n
- Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance and Facility Maintenance Manager, act as Project Manager for the design of new exhibits. \n
- Communicate needs and problems to the Director of Maintenance, Director of Animal Care and Veterinarian Department. \n
- Oversee the department’s safety program and enforce safety policies and procedures. \n
- Serve as a member of the Animal Husbandry Committee and the Animal Welfare Committee to review park compliance with legislation. \n
- Serve as Chairman of the Dive Control Board; work with the DSO to ensure safe dive operations. \n
- Interface with regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations to maintain all standards accordingly. \n
- Work in concert with Facility Maintenance Manager to ensure all facilities are complaint with both regulatory and accrediting organization as appropriate. \n
- Develop, implement and enforce all departmental policies as needed; follow and enforce all polices of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. \n
- Other duties as requested. \n
\nQualifications:\n
- \n
- 2-5 years previous experience as a Life Support Lead with an AZA or ZAA accredited institution is preferred or equivalent work experience. \n
- AALSO Life Support Operator or AALSO Water Quality Certification Preferred. \n
- Must be proficient managing closed loop filtration systems for marine mammals and fish. \n
- Must be proficient troubleshooting, repairing and upgrading mechanical equipment associated with life support systems (Pumps, motors, ozone, automation, etc.). \n
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of water chemistry, as it applies to a wide variety of systems including marine mammal, fish and avian systems. \n
- Open water diving certificate preferred or willingness to obtain. \n
- Prior experience in project management required. \n
- Must be able to work in all types of weather both indoors and outdoors. \n
- Must be able to deal effectively with other professionals and governmental agencies. \n
- Must possess excellent organizational skills. \n
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays. \n
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Must be a strong swimmer and willing to work in and around cold saltwater as needed. \n
- Must possess good corrected/uncorrected eyesight. \n
- Must be able to read, write and speak English. \n
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Applications. \n
