Position Highlights

This academic faculty role includes an appointment at a prestigious medical school and offers a comprehensive three-year cardiovascular training program within a quaternary care center. Physicians will gain full-spectrum exposure across various specialties, including cardiovascular imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, cardio-oncology, vascular medicine, women's cardiovascular health, sports cardiology, and a nationally recognized center of excellence for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The program is based at a hospital with approximately 900 beds, with a new state-of-the-art facility set to open in 2027, and includes dedicated time for research and elective opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the administration and educational supervision of fellows in the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, adhering to the policies of our organization.
• Manage the initial accreditation process through the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and ensure ongoing compliance with ACGME standards.
• Create an educational environment that meets ACGME competency requirements.
• Develop, review, and update the didactic curriculum.
• Ensure compliance at all participating training sites.
• Lead recruitment, assessment, and promotion of fellows, as well as participate in education- and program-related committees.
• Provide continuous faculty development and improvement opportunities.
• Mentor and guide fellows throughout their training.
• Supervise program coordinator responsibilities.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree
• Current medical license in good standing with the North Carolina Medical Board
• Certification in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine
• A minimum of three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency or Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship
• Active clinical practice and ongoing academic contributions in cardiovascular disease, which may include publications, educational program development, or research
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proficiency in utilizing technology for effective fellowship program administration
