Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Cardiologist - Medical Director

Position Overview

Our organization is actively seeking a skilled Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) cardiologist to take on the role of Medical Director. This full-time position will be based in Newark and will report directly to the Division Chief of Cardiology. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and enhancing our established ACHD program, aiming for ACHA accreditation while fostering a multidisciplinary approach that encompasses cardiology, cardiac surgery, maternal-fetal medicine, electrophysiology, imaging, and advanced heart failure and transplant services.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this role is between $500,000 and $700,000 annually. The final compensation will be influenced by various factors, including the candidate's educational qualifications, skills, and professional experience. Additional benefits include:

Key Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversee the ACHD program, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Lead the credentialing and accreditation process for the ACHD program.
• Develop and implement comprehensive clinical pathways, outreach initiatives, and quality metrics for ACHD.
• Collaborate with pediatric cardiology, adult cardiology subspecialties, cardiac surgery, and maternal-fetal medicine to ensure coordinated care for patients with complex congenital heart disease.
• Mentor cardiology fellows and trainees while engaging in academic and research activities related to ACHD.
• Establish referral relationships with community cardiologists and other referring physicians within our health network.
• Enhance program visibility through education, outreach, and collaboration with regional academic partners.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD).
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease or eligibility through a "grandfathered" pathway.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in New Jersey.
• A strong foundation in academic medicine, clinical research, and physician development.
• Experience collaborating with pediatric cardiac programs is highly preferred.
• Structural heart specialists with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
