Accounts Assistant

Abbeygate Search Ltd
Hemel Hempstead, ENG, GB Full Time

Job Description

Working Pattern: Hybrid working available after probation, with a minimum of two days per week in the office

\n

I’m working with a well-established business in Hertfordshire that is looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant into its finance team.

\n

This is a great opportunity for someone who has already gained some experience in accounts, finance administration or a busy office-based role, and is now looking to build on that experience in a more finance-focused position.

\n

The role would suit someone who enjoys working with numbers, has good attention to detail and is confident using Excel. You’ll be supporting a busy finance team with a mix of reconciliations, billing administration, data input, reporting support and general accounts-related queries.

\n

Some bookkeeping knowledge, AAT studies or previous exposure to reconciliations, invoices, accruals or prepayments would be useful.

\n

The role will include:

\n
    \n
  • Preparing, checking and updating financial information
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate records across spreadsheets and internal systems
  • \n
  • Supporting with billing, invoice and recharge-related administration
  • \n
  • Reconciling income, costs and other financial data
  • \n
  • Helping to investigate and resolve finance-related queries
  • \n
  • Reviewing supplier information and assisting with cost allocation
  • \n
  • Supporting internal reporting and deadline tracking
  • \n
  • Assisting with month-end, year-end and ad hoc finance tasks
  • \n
  • Liaising with colleagues across the wider business to ensure information is accurate and received on time
  • \n
\n

I’m looking for someone with:

\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in accounts, finance administration or a similar office-based role
  • \n
  • Good Excel skills and confidence working with data
  • \n
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • \n
  • A basic understanding of bookkeeping or reconciliations
  • \n
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • \n
  • A calm, organised and reliable approach
  • \n
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • \n
  • AAT studies, or an interest in developing within accounts, would be beneficial but not essential
  • \n
\n

This would be a strong fit for someone looking to develop their finance career within a supportive, professional environment, where they can continue building their accounting knowledge over time.
