\nAn established and growing underwriting business is looking to appoint an Assistant Underwriter to join its Commercial team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with insurance, broking or underwriting experience to step into a broad, developmental role with real long-term career potential.
\nAs a Commercial Underwriter you will:
\nBe working closely with experienced underwriters, you will support the management of new and existing business across a varied commercial portfolio. The role offers exposure to underwriting support, broker servicing, account management and portfolio analysis, making it ideal for someone keen to build both technical knowledge and commercial confidence.
\nKey responsibilities include:
\n- \n
- Supporting new business, renewals, mid-term adjustments and cancellations. \n
- Reviewing risks, preparing documentation and assisting with underwriting decisions. \n
- Building strong relationships with brokers and delivering a responsive service. \n
- Supporting reporting, monitoring and data analysis across the portfolio. \n
- Identifying trends, anomalies and emerging risks, escalating where appropriate. \n
- Maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance and governance standards. \n
As a Commercial Underwriter you will have:
\nExperience in an insurance, broking or underwriting environment and be looking for the next step in their career. Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple priorities will all be important in this role.
