Job Description

Reed is proud to be representing a long-established international bank in the search for an experienced Relationship Manager (Property Finance). This role focuses on maintaining, developing and managing a high-quality commercial property lending portfolio, ensuring profitability and robust risk management.

The successful candidate will play a key part in originating new business, deepening client relationships, mentoring junior colleagues, and safeguarding the bank’s credit and operational standards.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • To maintain, develop and manage a profitable portfolio of high-quality property finance customers.
  • \n
  • To identify new business opportunities, strengthen existing relationships, and support the bank’s growth strategy.
  • \n

Key Responsibilities

\n

Relationship Management

\n
    \n
  • Manage the day-to-day relationships across your property finance portfolio.
  • \n
  • Promote the bank’s property lending services to existing and prospective clients.
  • \n
  • Attend professional and networking events to build industry presence and generate new business leads.
  • \n
  • Conduct regular customer and site visits, documenting all findings in line with procedures.
  • \n

Credit & Risk Assessment

  • Carry out detailed risk assessments for new proposals and existing facilities.
  • \n
  • Prepare high-quality lending proposals (new, amendments and extensions) and present them to the Credit Committees.
  • \n
  • Monitor covenant compliance, external ratings, and watchlist customers.
  • \n
  • Identify risks early and immediately escalate concerns to senior management.
  • \n
  • Ensure all credit approval conditions are satisfied in a timely manner.
  • \n

Portfolio Management & Monitoring

  • Maintain rigorous control and monitoring procedures to minimise risk of loss.
  • \n
  • Visit development sites at least three times per year and all other properties at least annually.
  • \n
  • Track interest and fee collection, and follow up on delinquent loan positions.
  • \n
  • Liaise with lawyers, valuers, and monitoring surveyors as required.
  • \n
  • Ensure all documentation and security-taking procedures fully protect the bank.
  • \n

Business Development

  • Support the expansion of the property finance portfolio through proactive engagement with potential clients.
  • \n
  • Update the property pipeline on a daily or weekly basis.
  • \n
  • Prepare regular reports, including monthly pipelines and portfolio updates, for senior management.
  • \n
\n
