The Opportunity

\n

An established and fast-growing ecommerce business within the consumer products sector is seeking a Product Safety & Compliance Specialist to take ownership of UK and EU product compliance across a diverse and expanding product portfolio.

\n

This is a hands-on role offering real influence, working closely with Buying, Product, and Operations teams to ensure products are safe, compliant, and ready for market. You will also play a key role in strengthening and improving compliance processes as the business continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Take full ownership of product compliance across UK and EU markets
  • \n
  • Interpret and apply relevant regulations, including:\n
      \n
    • UKCA / CE marking requirements
    • \n
    • GPSR, EMC, LVD, RoHS, REACH
    • \n
  • \n
\n
    \n
  • Prepare, review, and maintain:\n
      \n
    • Technical Documentation
    • \n
    • Declarations of Conformity
    • \n
  • \n
\n
    \n
  • Assess supplier documentation and laboratory test reports, identifying gaps and recommending further testing where required
  • \n
  • Ensure all labelling, safety warnings, and user instructions meet regulatory standards
  • \n
  • Liaise directly with suppliers to obtain and validate compliance documentation
  • \n
  • Work cross-functionally with Buying and Product teams to embed compliance early in the product lifecycle
  • \n
  • Support responses to regulatory and marketplace compliance enquiries
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate compliance records and contribute to continuous process improvement
  • \n

Skills & Experience Required

\n
    \n
  • Experience in product compliance, product safety, quality assurance, or regulatory affairs within consumer goods or related industries
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of UKCA and CE marking requirements
  • \n
  • Proven experience working with:\n
      \n
    • Technical Files
    • \n
    • Declarations of Conformity
    • \n
    • Supplier compliance documentation
    • \n
  • \n

    \n
  • Experience reviewing test reports and identifying compliance risks
  • \n
  • Confident in engaging with and challenging suppliers when required
  • \n
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • \n
  • Ability to manage multiple product categories and competing priorities
  • \n
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • \n
  • Proactive and solution-oriented mindset
  • \n

Working Arrangements

  • Full-time position (37.5 hours per week)
  • \n
  • Flexible start times between 08:00 – 09:30, with corresponding finish times
  • \n
  • Based on-site in York (5 days per week)
  • \n
  • Due to location, own transport is essential
  • \n
