Senior Solicitor / Licensed Conveyancer (Maternity Cover) – Leasehold Transactions
\nFull-time Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)
\nReporting to: Managing Director
\nSalary: Competitive
\nLocation: Southend-on-Sea, Essex / Hybrid Working Available (1 day per week)
\n\nQualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or Licensed Conveyancer. Ideally 5+ years' post-qualification experience (or equivalent experience for Licensed Conveyancers), although applications from candidates with relevant expertise will be considered.
\n\nThe successful candidate will join the in-house legal team of a national property group. The company is a large freeholder and residential landlord with an established portfolio across England and Wales.
\n\nThis role focuses on managing a varied caseload of transactional leasehold matters, supporting the wider legal team and providing commercially focused legal advice to the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced property lawyer to join a busy, collaborative in-house legal team.

- Managing a varied caseload of transactional leasehold matters including: \n
- Lease Extensions \n
- Collective Enfranchisements \n
- Deeds of Variation \n
- Licences \n
- Residential property transactions \n
- Providing clear, commercial legal advice to internal stakeholders. \n
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider business to facilitate property transactions. \n
- Supporting junior members of the legal team where required, including providing guidance on day-to-day matters. \n
- Liaising with external solicitors and professional advisers as necessary. \n
- Maintaining accurate case management records and ensuring matters are progressed efficiently. \n
- Assisting with other property-related legal work as required. \n
Experience
\nThe ideal candidate will:
\n- \n
- Have substantial experience in residential property and transactional leasehold work, ideally gained in private practice or an in-house legal team. \n
- Have demonstrable experience handling transactional leasehold reform matters, including Lease Extensions, Collective Enfranchisements, Deeds of Variation and related landlord and tenant work. \n
- Highly organised individual with the ability to manage a busy workload and promote efficiency within a department \n
- Provide practical and commercially focused advice on leasehold and residential property matters to internal stakeholders. \n
- Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous but is not essential. \n
Limited hybrid working is available, although regular office attendance will be required to support effective collaboration with the legal team and wider business.
