The Role

\n

You will play a key role in supporting fee-earners across the Criminal Defence team, including:

    \n
  • Managing and preparing case files
  • \n
  • Taking initial client instructions and conducting client interviews
  • \n
  • Attending police stations (with training) and preparing briefs
  • \n
  • Conducting legal research and gathering evidence
  • \n
  • Drafting documents, statements, applications, and correspondence
  • \n
  • Liaising with courts, counsel, probation, and external agencies
  • \n
  • Ensuring all casework complies with deadlines, policies, and professional standards
  • \n

About You

  • Ideally 6+ months experience in criminal law (or strong legal support experience)
  • \n
  • A genuine interest in criminal defence and justice
  • \n
  • Strong communication skills and resilience

  • Ability to stay organised under pressure
  • \n
  • Proactive, committed, and able to handle sensitive situations with professionalism
  • \n
  • Law degree, LPC or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
  • \n
