The Role

This is a hands-on Financial Controller role suited to someone who enjoys building strong financial processes in a fast-paced environment. You will take ownership of day-to-day finance operations while improving financial visibility, controls, and scalability.

You will work closely with leadership to support decision-making, improve financial performance, and ensure compliance across all financial activities.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports
\n
• Produce monthly management accounts
\n
• Analyse performance, trends, risks, and opportunities
\n
• Present insights to senior leadership
\n
• Develop KPIs and reporting dashboards
\n

Accounting & Finance Operations

\n
• Oversee day-to-day finance function and bookkeeping
\n
• Maintain accurate records using Xero or similar systems
\n
• Manage reconciliations and general ledger integrity
\n
• Ensure timely and accurate financial transactions
\n

Budgeting & Forecasting

\n
• Lead annual budgeting process
\n
• Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections
\n
• Track budget vs actuals and explain variances
\n
• Support scenario planning and decision-making
\n

Financial Control & Compliance

\n
• Maintain strong financial controls and governance
\n
• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards
\n
• Support VAT, payroll, and corporation tax processes
\n
• Work with external accountants and advisors
\n

Systems & Process Improvement

\n
• Manage and improve finance systems (e.g., Xero)
\n
• Enhance reporting efficiency and automation
\n
• Improve financial data integrity and processes
\n

Stakeholder Management

\n
• Partner with department heads and senior leadership
\n
• Provide commercial financial insight and guidance
\n
• Support non-finance teams with financial understanding
\n
• Act as key contact for external advisors
\n

Key Metrics

\n
• Revenue, gross profit, EBITDA, net profit
\n
• Cash flow and working capital
\n
• CAC and LTV
\n
• Customer and business unit profitability
\n
• Revenue mix and performance tracking
\n

Requirements

\n
• 3+ years’ experience in a senior finance role
\n
• Strong technical accounting and reporting experience
\n
• Experience running a full finance function
\n
• Knowledge of Xero or similar systems
\n
• Confident with P&L, balance sheet, VAT, payroll, and tax
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
\n
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
\n
• Experience in a fast-paced or high-growth business preferred
\n
