Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager (& Senior Operators) to oversee our clients busy commercial Operations function. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of the supply chain process, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of product from procurement through to final customer shipping delivery.

The successful candidate will drive operational excellence, manage key stakeholder relationships, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and lead a high-performing operations team in a fast-paced trading and logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

\n
    \n
  • Manage and oversee daily operations activity across the business.
  • \n
  • Ensure efficient execution of the end-to-end supply chain process from procurement through to customer delivery.
  • \n
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that support business objectives.
  • \n
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service quality, and profitability.
  • \n
  • Introduce and support the implementation of new technologies and operational methodologies.
  • \n

Supply Chain, Shipping & Logistics Management

  • Monitor and optimise logistics activities to ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery.
  • \n
  • Coordinate with suppliers, customers, terminals, inspection companies, incoterms, brokers, and transport providers.
  • \n
  • Ensure operational activities align with contractual obligations and customer requirements.
  • \n
  • Maintain high standards of service delivery and operational performance.
  • \n

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including:\n

    • Suppliers
    • \n
    • Barge and ship owners
    • \n
    • Storage terminals
    • \n
    • Brokers
    • \n
  • \n
\n

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation, industry regulations, and company policies.
  • \n
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures and compliance frameworks.
  • \n
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation strategies to protect business interests.
  • \n
  • Promote best practice across all operational activities.
  • \n

Performance Management

  • Establish and monitor key operational performance metrics.
  • \n
  • Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • \n
  • Produce management reports and operational performance updates.
  • \n
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement across the team.
  • \n

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Operations team.
  • \n
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure high levels of performance and engagement.
  • \n
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven working environment.
  • \n
  • Support succession planning and talent development within the team.
  • \n

Financial Management

    \n
  • Develop and manage operational budgets.
  • \n
  • Monitor operational expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • \n
  • Support financial planning and reporting processes.
  • \n
\n

Experience & Qualifications

\n

Essential

\n
    \n
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline.
  • \n
  • 5–10 years' experience within operations, logistics, supply chain, or commodity trading environments.
  • \n
  • Proven experience managing operational teams.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of international trade terms (Incoterms), supply chain processes, and logistics operations.
  • \n
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
  • \n
  • Fluent English, both written and verbal. (NB: No sponsorship is provided)
  • \n

  • Experience within the energy, fuel, commodities, or bulk liquids sectors (desirable)
