Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Director of Sales to lead our sales function during an exciting period of growth. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing the company's sales strategy, driving new business opportunities, expanding key customer relationships, and leading a high-performing sales team within the transformer manufacturing sector.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering revenue growth in a manufacturing or industrial environment and will be passionate about building strong customer partnerships while developing and motivating successful sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aligned with the company's growth objectives.

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales team to achieve ambitious revenue and profitability targets.

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities across utilities, industrial, renewable energy, infrastructure, and OEM markets.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key accounts, ensuring exceptional customer service and long-term partnership development.

  • Manage the sales pipeline, forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting to support business planning.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, production, and senior leadership to deliver commercially successful customer solutions.

  • Negotiate commercial agreements and major contracts while protecting company profitability.
  • \n
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify opportunities for business growth.
  • \n
  • Represent the company at customer meetings, exhibitions, and industry events.
  • \n
  • Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer excellence across the sales function.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading sales teams within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial business, ideally within the transformer or electrical equipment industry.

  • A strong track record of creating new business opportunities and delivering sustained revenue growth.

  • Extensive experience managing and developing key customer accounts.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
  • \n
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Experience developing sales strategies, forecasts, budgets, and KPIs.

  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities across all organisational levels.
