\n£30K-£35K (Dependant on Experience)
\nJackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Sunderland with the appointment of a Materials Controller to join their Supply Chain team.
\nThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced materials or supply chain coordinator professional to play a key role across the full end to end supply chain in ensuring the efficient procurement and control of materials in a fast-paced environment.
\nThe Role
\nReporting to the Plant Manager, you will be responsible for managing material supply in line with production requirements, ensuring optimal stock levels while maintaining a strong focus on cost, quality, and supplier performance.
\nYou will work closely with planning, production, and external partners to ensure materials are available when needed, supporting operational efficiency across the site.
\nKey Responsibilities

- Manage procurement, material planning and stock levels across raw materials and consumables \n
- Ensure effective use of MRP/ERP systems to maintain accurate inventory levels \n
- Minimise excess and obsolete stock while ensuring continuity of supply \n
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing and contracts \n
- Monitor supplier performance, focusing on quality, delivery and cost \n
- Conduct regular stocktakes and ensure system accuracy \n
- Handle material quality issues, delivery delays, and goods-in queries \n
- Work alongside Logistics in coordinating logistics activities including imports, exports, and customs clearance \n
- Liaise with internal teams and external warehouses to support production demand \n
- Support continuous improvement and supply chain optimisation initiatives \n
About You
\n- \n
- Proven experience within a Materials Controller or similar supply chain role \n
- Background within manufacturing, ideally FMCG or packaging \n
- Strong understanding of inventory control and supply chain processes \n
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP desirable) \n
- Skilled in supplier management and commercial negotiation \n
- Experience managing import/export processes and logistics coordination \n
- Strong organisational and communication skills \n
Desirable

- CIPS qualification (or working towards) \n
- Exposure to plastics or extrusion processes \n
