\nWorking closely with the CFO, this role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a well-functioning finance department, lead a small team, and provide the financial control and insight that underpins business performance. \n\nKey Responsibilities
\nFinancial Reporting & Control
\n- \n
- Prepare monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules. \n
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. \n
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP and internal financial policies. \n
- Maintain and enhance robust financial controls and governance procedures. \n
- Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to senior stakeholders. \n
Budgeting & Forecasting
\n- \n
- Support the CFO in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts. \n
- Provide meaningful variance analysis and commentary on financial performance. \n
- Assist with financial planning and decision-support activities across the business. \n
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
\n- \n
- Monitor and manage daily cash flow requirements. \n
- Prepare short and long-term cash flow forecasts. \n
- Drive improvements in working capital through effective management of debtors, creditors, and inventory. \n
Audit, Tax & Compliance
\n- \n
- Coordinate the annual audit process and act as the key contact for external auditors. \n
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts. \n
- Ensure compliance with VAT, corporation tax, and other regulatory requirements. \n
- Liaise with external advisors where appropriate. \n
Team Leadership & Development
\n- \n
- Lead, mentor, and develop the wider transactional finance team. \n
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance. \n
- Support succession planning and ongoing development within the finance function. \n
Systems & Process Improvement
\n- \n
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency. \n
- Support the ongoing development and enhancement of Microsoft Dynamics and related systems. \n
- Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function. \n
About You
\n- \n
- Qualified by Experience or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). \n
- Proven experience within a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar leadership role. \n
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge. \n
- Hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail and accuracy. \n
- \n
- Ideally but not essential experience within a manufacturing, distribution, or stock-based environment. \n
- Previous experience within an SME business. \n
