Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an HR Officer to join a school, supporting the delivery of a proactive, effective and compliant HR service. This role plays a key part in supporting the full employee lifecycle, safeguarding compliance and day-to-day HR operations within an education setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day HR support and advice to managers and staff across the Trust
  • \n
  • Support the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, offboarding, recruitment and probation processes
  • \n
  • Manage and maintain accurate employee records, personnel files and HR systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR and employment legislation
  • \n
  • Complete safeguarding and pre-employment checks including Enhanced DBS, references, right to work and qualification checks
  • \n
  • Maintain and ensure compliance of the Single Central Register (SCR)
  • \n
  • Support absence management processes, ensuring records are tracked and updated accurately
  • \n
  • Assist with HR administration relating to contractual changes, maternity/paternity documentation, pay review letters and amendments to contracts
  • \n
  • Support recruitment activity including advertising, pre-employment screening and safer recruitment processes
  • \n
  • Liaise with payroll to ensure accurate monthly payroll data is provided
  • \n
  • Act as a first point of contact for HR queries, responding in a professional, confidential and timely manner
  • \n
  • Support line managers with HR processes including return to work meetings, investigations and disciplinary processes where required
  • \n
  • Assist with HR reporting, workforce data, School Workforce Census and Gender Pay Gap reporting
  • \n
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR processes, systems and policies
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with central services including Finance, Payroll and MIS
  • \n
  • Escalate business-critical or safeguarding concerns to senior management as appropriate
  • \n

Ideal Candidate Profile:

\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in an HR Officer / HR Administrator / HR Advisor role
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of operational HR processes and employee lifecycle administration
  • \n
  • Experience within an education or academy trust environment (desirable)
  • \n
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent HR experience
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
  • \n
  • Experience of managing HR data, systems and confidential records
  • \n
  • High level of attention to detail with a forensic eye for accuracy
  • \n
  • Confident communicator, able to deal effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • \n
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
  • \n
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • \n
  • Understanding of safeguarding requirements within education
  • \n

Location: East London

\n

Working Pattern: On-site,35 hours per week

\n

Contract: 1 year FTC - maternity cover

\n

Start Date: ASAP

\n

Salary: £38,000 - £39,000 per annum
