Reed HR are delighted to be supporting a prestigious and well-established Oxford-based organisation in their search for an experienced HR Manager to join them in a newly created standalone role.

\n

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished HR professional to review, develop and lead the HR function, supporting a diverse workforce within a complex and highly regarded environment. The role offers a rare opportunity to shape HR strategy while remaining closely involved in operational delivery, making a tangible impact across the organisation.

Reporting to a senior leader, you will act as the organisation's HR expert, providing both strategic and hands-on support across all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

The Role

\n

Key responsibilities will include:

\n
    \n
  • Advising senior stakeholders and departmental leaders on a broad range of HR and employment matters.
  • \n
  • Reviewing, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures in line with employment legislation and best practice.
  • \n
  • Supporting organisational development initiatives, staff wellbeing programmes and training activities.
  • \n
  • Providing guidance and support on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and organisational change.
  • \n
  • Championing diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives across the organisation.
  • \n
  • Supporting managers with recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee engagement activities.
  • \n
  • Managing HR systems and ensuring accurate HR records and GDPR compliance.
  • \n
  • Producing key HR reports, including equality and workforce data.
  • \n
  • Delivering HR training and coordinating external training providers where required.
  • \n
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

About You

\n

We are keen to hear from HR professionals who possess:

\n
    \n
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or above, or equivalent professional experience.
  • \n
  • Significant generalist HR experience, ideally gained within higher education, a not-for-profit environment or another complex organisation.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • \n
  • Experience of developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • \n
  • Excellent employee relations expertise and the confidence to advise senior stakeholders.
  • \n
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to successfully manage a standalone HR function.
  • \n
  • Experience using HR systems and maintaining accurate employee records.
  • \n
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • \n
  • High levels of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail.
  • \n
