Join the Leaving Care, Children’s & Education Services at Manchester City Council as a Personal Advisor. This role is crucial in supporting young people aged 16-25 who have been or are looked after by the council, assisting them in their transition to adulthood and independent living.

Day-to-day of the role:\n
    \n
  • Manage a caseload of young people, maintaining accurate case records and undertaking statutory recordings.
  • \n
  • Contribute to and provide ongoing assessment for Pathway Plan Assessments, promoting full engagement of young people.
  • \n
  • Undertake assessments for young people resuming or wishing to resume education/training or those presenting with other support needs post 21 years.
  • \n
  • Work closely with young people to promote their welfare and ensure their views and wishes are considered in assessments, Pathway Plans, and reviews.
  • \n
  • Provide flexible advice, practical assistance, and support to enable successful transitions for young people.
  • \n
  • Coordinate the provision of services and ensure young people make use of such services.
  • \n
  • Identify and supervise the delivery of support packages for young people living in the community, in accordance with their pathway plan.
  • \n
  • Ensure young people receive appropriate financial support and assist them in developing financial management skills.
  • \n
  • Support young people in gaining access to appropriate accommodation.
  • \n
  • Work in partnership with a range of agencies to ensure an integrated, holistic response to meet the needs of young people.

Required Skills & Qualifications:\n
    \n
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in planning, organising, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • \n
  • Effective administrative skills and the ability to maintain administration systems in a changing environment.
  • \n
  • IT proficiency in multiple applications and systems.
  • \n
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance including the Children Act 1989, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, and related regulations.
  • \n
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle on a daily basis.
  • \n
  • Willingness to consent to and apply for a DBS check.
  • \n
  • Required to work flexible hours between 08:00 - 20:00, Monday to Friday.
