Assistant Accountant

Think Accountancy & Finance are working with a well-established, family-owned business who are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their team in Watford.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing international company where you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the finance function whilst working closely with other teams and areas of the business.

The Role

Directly supporting the companies Accountant, you will take ownership of varied responsibilities with a particular focus on the Accounts Receivable, whilst also supporting with Accounts Payable and wider bookkeeping tasks.

This is a hands-on role where you'll become an integral part of the business, working closely with colleagues across multiple departments.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the sales ledger and raising customer invoices
\n
• Credit control and customer account management
\n
• Processing purchase invoices, matching, coding and posting
\n
• Preparing payment runs
\n
• Bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
\n
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
\n
• Processing customer receipts and supplier payments using Sage 50
\n
• Supporting with month-end
\n
• Assisting with administrative tasks where required
\n
• Providing ad hoc support across the wider business as needed
\n

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced SME environment and is confident working independently as well as with other teams.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience within an all-round account's role
\n
• Strong knowledge of Sage and SAP
\n
• Experience preparing VAT returns
\n
• Confidence with reconciliations, payment runs and invoice processing
\n
• Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Credit Control experience
\n
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships across the business
\n
• A proactive attitude with the ability to prioritise your own workload
\n
• Experience working within a high volume fast paced environment
\n
