Tameside Council is seeking a high-calibre Fostering Team Manager to provide inspirational operational and strategic leadership to their Fostering Support and Supervision Team.
Core Responsibilities & Leadership Focus\nAs the Team Manager for Fostering Support and Supervision, your executive duties will span several critical areas:

Operational & Practice Leadership: Lead, support, and manage a dedicated team of Supervising Social Workers. You will champion evidence-based practice, ensure work is appropriately allocated, and maintain robust management oversight across all care planning and carer guidance.

Quality Assurance & Compliance: Implement and maintain rigorous audit and performance monitoring systems. You will ensure the service strictly complies with national Fostering Regulations, statutory guidance, and National Minimum Standards, while embedding a strong culture of reflective learning.

Strategic Development & Collaboration: Partner with internal colleagues, external stakeholders, and partner agencies to shape future practice, support service improvement initiatives, and contribute directly to the broader strategic goals of Tameside's Children's Services.

Workforce & Performance Management: Direct the recruitment, formal supervision, and professional development of your staff. You will foster a culture of accountability, coaching, and collaboration, ensuring your team is fully equipped to deliver high-quality support and training to foster families.

Resource & Financial Oversight: Manage financial, physical, and human resources efficiently, ensuring the service represents excellent value for money while effectively deploying resources to maximize outcomes for children.

Safeguarding Excellence: Keep the welfare, protection, and voices of looked-after children central to all operational decisions, demonstrating sound professional judgement, integrity, and a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice.

Professional Registration: Must be a Qualified Social Worker with an active, valid Social Work England registration.
\n - \n
Management Competency: Proven, substantive experience operating as a Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager within a statutory Fostering or Permanence service.

Regulatory Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of the Fostering Services Regulations, National Minimum Standards, and the Care Planning Regulations.
