Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Competitive Salary (DOE)

Planet Recruitment are delighted to be working with an innovative and well-established engineering manufacturer based in West Oxfordshire who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on both new product development and the continuous improvement of existing products, playing a key role in research and development projects while helping to reduce product development timescales.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for:

\n
• Designing and developing new mechanical products and improving existing designs.
\n
• Building and testing prototypes throughout the development process.
\n
• Recording and analysing test results, providing recommendations and next steps.
\n
• Producing and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
\n
• Working collaboratively with engineers and other departments to deliver projects on time.
\n
• Supporting research and development activities from concept through to production.
\n
• Contributing ideas to improve product performance, manufacturability and efficiency.
\n
• Undertaking any other reasonable engineering duties as required.
\n

The successful candidate will ideally have:

\n
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
\n
• Previous experience in a design or product development environment.
\n
• Experience working on research and development projects (desirable).
\n
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor.
\n
• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
\n
• Experience with prototype assembly and product testing.
\n
• Strong organisational, project management and communication skills.
\n
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\n
• A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing innovative engineering solutions.
\n
