Job Description

Our client is a growing £80m turnover business who are enjoying a period of transformation and growth. They seek to hire a Senior Financial Accountant to join their team of 10 and take full ownership of the month and year end. The role will suit a technically strong ACA/ACCA looking for a role with autonomy and the opportunity to mentor juniors within the team.

Responsibilities:

Financial reporting and period-end close

\n
    \n
  • Plan, organise and manage own workload to ensure the company’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes are achieved in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with internal controls, company policy and applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:
  • \n
  • Take ownership of accurate and timely month-end and year-end close activities within the role, ensuring deadlines are met and issues are identified, proactively resolved and where relevant escalated
  • \n
  • Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments, ensuring transactions are complete, accurate and appropriately supported
  • \n
  • Perform detailed profit and loss review, proactively investigate variances and unusual items, and take ownership of follow-up actions to ensure issues are understood and resolved
  • \n
  • Prepare reporting schedules, notes and supporting analysis required for group submissions and internal review
  • \n
  • Prepare/review royalty accruals and invoices
  • \n
  • Provide clear, accurate commentary to support internal and external financial reporting, including variance analysis
  • \n
  • Act as the primary point of accountability for month-end quality and completeness
  • \n

Balance sheet control and reconciliations

\n

  • Maintain robust balance sheet control through timely preparation and review of reconciliations, ensuring all balances are fully supported and exceptions are resolved
  • \n
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations across profit and loss and balance sheet accounts, following up differences and ensuring timely resolution
  • \n
  • Support foreign exchange revaluation, fixed asset accounting and related control processes, including setting up internal orders where required
  • \n
\n

Inventory, costing and operational finance support

\n
    \n
  • Take ownership of key inventory accounting activities, by preparing/reviewing stock valuation, stock provisioning, stock reporting, adjustments and related analysis
  • \n
\n

Group reporting, quarterly processes and management information

\n
    \n
  • Prepare and support quarterly reporting requirements, including hard close activities, intercompany performance fees and other periodic submissions
  • \n
  • Lead on allocation, assessment and profitability reporting cycles, ensuring outputs are completed accurately and in line with agreed timetables
  • \n
  • Prepare management information, dashboard commentary and other analysis to support finance review and decision-making
  • \n
\n

Statutory, tax and compliance support

\n
    \n
  • Prepare/review statutory returns and disclosures, including VAT, VPAG, ONS, PSA returns and other regulatory or government reporting requirements relevant to the role
  • \n
  • Prepare robust schedules, reconciliations and supporting information for statutory accounts, tax reporting and other compliance-related submissions
  • \n
\n

Audit and continuous improvement

\n
    \n
  • Support leading the audit process and provide timely, accurate and well-supported information to internal and external auditors and respond to queries within agreed deadlines
  • \n
  • Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives
  • \n
  • Identify inefficiencies and propose practical solutions to improve team capacity and output quality
  • \n
\n

A salary of £65000 is on offer plus 10% bonus and benefits
