Oldham Council is seeking dedicated, resilient Children's Social Workers to join their established Safeguarding and Care Planning teams. Rooted in systemic practice, this service focuses on relationship-based casework, understanding family context, and delivering high-quality interventions for children at various stages of their statutory journey.

Role Overview & Responsibilities\n

Operating as part of an experienced fieldwork team, your daily responsibilities will include:

    Long-Term Safeguarding: Managing a complex caseload of children and young people subject to Child Protection (CP) and Children in Need (CIN) frameworks.

  • \n
  • \n

    Court Work & Care Proceedings: Initiating and managing care proceedings, completing comprehensive court reports, and presenting analytical evidence within the Family Court system.

  • \n
  • \n

    Systemic Intervention: Undertaking purposeful, relationship-focused work with families to understand context and family dynamics, facilitating positive, sustainable change.

  • \n
  • \n

    Reflective Practice: Engaging in continuous professional development and reflective learning to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Mandatory Candidate Criteria\n

To be considered for this position, you must satisfy the following criteria:

    Professional Registration: Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a valid, active Social Work England registration.

  • \n
  • \n

    Core Experience: Proven, substantive experience working within statutory Child Protection and Court/Care Planning environments.

  • \n
  • \n

    Work Structure: Commitment to a minimum of 3 days office-based/on-site working per week to support service delivery and team collaboration.
